Our Mission

At Becoming Eco, we know that the first steps when trying something new can be the hardest.

Our mission is to make using reusable products for the first time as effortless and affordable as possible.

We are all Becoming Eco, one small step at a time.

The Beginning…

Our family started using cloth nappies in early 2019, when Elliot (my first son) turned one. Our first foray into reusable products was not cloth nappies, but was in fact reusable menstrual pads and panty liners. The need to switch to reusables was brought on by our move to Zeehan, a remote town on the west coast of Tasmania (population of around 700 people). The small, local shops were always sold out of the products we needed, or didn’t stock the brands we had grown to love. We also did not have recycling collection. Growing more concerned about our waste by the day, we made the choice to switch to reusable products wherever we could.

The Middle…

We are always eager for a change or a new challenge. In November, 2019, we decided to put all that cloth nappy research to good use, and BundleBums was born. We started strong, stocking more than 50 brands of reusable products and other eco-friendly alternatives.

Then Covid-19 hit. In the height of the pandemic, the popularity of reusable products and the awareness of being eco-conscious was phenomenal. Unfortunately, so were the shipping costs, production delays, and economic downturns.

Add to this, the birth of our second son, Sam, in 2020, and a diagnosis of ADHD in adulthood, the need for change was urgent.

The Now…

Many competitors, suppliers, and other small businesses were closing down around us. We needed to make some big changes to suit our growing needs, and the needs of our customers. Fast forward to 2022, where with the help of some fantastic business professionals we decided a rebrand was needed.

This brings us to November 2022: Becoming Eco is born.

Becoming Eco is passionate about providing information and support to people who are just beginning their eco journey. We strive to make budget friendly reusable products easy to find in Australia, and to spread the word that being eco-friendly doesn’t need to be unaffordable. In fact, we know first-hand that reusable products can save you money.

My goal is to educate. Small changes add up to big differences. It’s ok to make tiny swaps, because the difference it makes is still extraordinary.
You don’t need to go all out to change the world, you just need to start trying.
